How the story begins: In the South Pacific, many tourists and a few cruise staff disembarked their Cruise ship to board a catamaran for a sunset excursion. A violent tropical storm hit, sweeping the catamaran miles off course and ultimately destroying it. Several passengers clung to debris overnight, washing up on a tiny desert island.
~ Dante Robinson, Captain of the Catamaran (Jim Leard) appeared to have suffered a concussion in the disaster. Other than a whistle, he did not have any rescue communications. It was unclear whether he had sent SOS signals during the storm.
~ John “Jack” Collins, the Ship’s Naturalist (Morgan Cranny) revealed he had escaped the sinking catamaran by floating in the only life raft – by himself. He pointed out several unique plants on the island.
~Sandy Erdrich, Mom from North Dakota (Kirsten Van Ritzen) attempted to find help for badly injured Youtube influencer Harper Lee Johnson (Colleen Blunt). Harper later managed to manipulate all of the men into paying attention to her.
~ Sandy stepped on a poisonous vine, which made her drowsy and induced a brief nap on the lap of Loretta Lavine, a glamorous lady (Christine Upright). Loretta was quite overcome by the disaster, but relieved to find other survivors.
~ Spencer Wilson (Robert Conway) was perturbed at the lack of buffet options and amenities at this unscheduled Port of Call.
~ Reverend Karl Locke (Alan Penty) asked others if they felt somehow changed; he suggested the survivors form a government. Travel writer Owen Scott (Bill Nance) and Chip Willington (Charlie Depape) were angry at the disastrous circumstances, and felt that priorities should be rescue and survival.
~ Timothy Baker, Housekeeping Staff (Gene Sergent), realized he was the highest-ranking cruise employee and therefore in charge of survival; but he struggled to recall his emergency training.
~ As the sun began to set, small groups of Castaways wandered the island in an attempt to find and gather all the survivors together, but their endeavour was unsuccessful.
